digiMEGRA
Elevator and Machine Access Control

digiMEGRA – Biometric Access and Operating Authorization for Elevators and Machinery

Security starts with reliable identification.

In modern businesses, controlling access to buildings and rooms is no longer enough. The use of elevators, machinery and technical equipment must also be managed. The key question is not simply whether someone may enter an area, but whether that person is authorized and qualified to operate the equipment concerned.

digiMEGRA provides a flexible biometric solution that adds reliable personal identification to existing access control and automation systems. Instead of relying on keys, access cards or PINs, users can identify themselves through facial recognition or fingerprint biometrics.

Elevator Access Control – Only Authorized Floors

In office buildings, manufacturing facilities, hospitals and high-security environments, not everyone should be able to reach every floor.

digiMEGRA enables individual elevator access permissions. Following successful biometric identification, the system checks the person’s assigned access rights to determine which floors they are permitted to select.

Employees can be restricted to their own work areas, while maintenance staff, cleaning teams and management receive individually defined permissions.

Authorization can be passed to the existing elevator controller or its access control interface, allowing established access policies to remain in place.

The advantage: Access cards cannot be passed from person to person, PINs cannot be observed, and permissions cannot simply be transferred to someone else.

Machine Access Control – Operation Restricted to Trained Personnel

Reliable identification is particularly important when machinery and technical installations are involved.

Many businesses permit certain machines to be operated only by employees who have successfully completed the required training, instruction or certification.

digiMEGRA combines biometric identification with an individual authorization check.

How it works:

  1. An employee identifies themselves biometrically at the machine.
  2. digiMEGRA identifies the individual and retrieves their assigned permissions.
  3. The system checks whether the required training or qualification has been completed and remains valid.
  4. Only when authorization is valid is operation enabled through the designated machine interface.

This helps ensure that CNC machines, production equipment and specialized testing systems can be operated only by qualified personnel.

Time-limited permissions can also be taken into account. If mandatory training or certification expires, operating authorization can be withdrawn automatically until the qualification is renewed.

Biometric authorization complements the machine’s mandatory technical safety and protective functions; it does not replace them.

Integration with Existing Systems

A key advantage of digiMEGRA is its ability to work with existing infrastructure.

Biometric identification is integrated upstream of the existing elevator controller, control station or machine control system. Following a successful check, digiMEGRA passes the associated identity or required enable signal to the connected system.

Access rights and qualifications can be linked to existing HR, training and authorization systems.

This makes it possible to combine biometric identification with established control technology without replacing the entire infrastructure.

Greater Security. Less Administration.

With digiMEGRA, conventional access and machine enablement become identity-based authorization processes.

Organizations benefit from stronger security, clearer accountability for access permissions and a reduced risk associated with lost or shared access cards.

With digiMEGRA, access is determined not by possession of a card or knowledge of a code, but by the person’s verified identity and actual authorization.

A flexible solution for secure elevator access, controlled machine operation and integrated workplace security.
